When I met Aleea to discuss her senior photo session, her vision was clear: natural beauty, lush gardens, and a serene beach backdrop. Aleea’s mom had one simple request: a few classic shots in her cap and gown.
As a plan formed for this session, I knew I wanted to lean hard into my cinematic and filmy style for several of the shots, but also give Aleea some truly classic and timeless portraits. I can’t tell you how pleased I am with the end result. Some of these photos are now among my favorites.
Solomon’s Island: A Charming Town with a beachy vibe
Our session began at Solomon’s Island, which is a picturesque gem in Southern Maryland known for its charming waterfront and lush scenery. Aleea’s natural grace shone through as she posed against the backdrop of the boardwalk and the lovely waterfront homes. Her playful spirit and radiant smile made every shot a breeze.

Of course, we couldn’t wrap up the session at Solomons Island without honoring Aleea’s mom’s request for cap and gown photos. Aleea looked poised and proud, ready to take on the next chapter of her life. These images combined the traditional cap and gown set against the backdrop of Solomons Island, but it was Aleea’s laugh and charm that was the real star.

Next, we headed to one of my favorite waterfront parks in St. Mary’s County. This park offered the perfect mix of lush greenery and a tranquil beach—a match made in heaven for Aleea’s vision. The warm afternoon sunlight danced through the branches creating the most beautiful dappled light. As she wandered down the winding paths and settled on weathered wooden benches, I seized both candid and cinematic snapshots. Together, we crafted a senior photoshoot that merged classic charm with a touch of cinematic magic, which would result in her senior photo gallery that had elements that felt like they were stills captured in a movie.
When we got to the beach, Aleea’s joy was contagious, as she kicked off her shoes and felt the sand beneath her feet. The gentle waves and expansive sky provided a breathtaking backdrop to provide some shots that lended towards that movie-still vibe.
